Gravitational lensing is caused by a massive body between a distant object and ourselves. We investigate the strong gravitational lensing in a squashed Kaluza-Klein black hole immersed in the G\"{o}del universe with global rotation. Their goal is to give an overview on gravitational lensing and on its wide phenomenology. "We want to make it clear that the size of the effect depends on a number of uncertain factors. The galaxy's powerful gravity warps and magnifies the quasar's light, producing four distorted images of the quasar. Oguri M(1). Gravitational Lensing Provides Clues to Tiny Dark Matter Clumps. The two terms refer to how perfectly aligned the background object is with the foreground lensing component and the Earth. Weak gravitational lensing results in galaxies appearing distorted, stretched or magnified. It can create the appearance of two or more objects where there is really only one. Analytical approaches to the same are developed, and the results differ substantially from strong lensing by black holes, first reported by Bozza. Yan stressed that the 20-percent estimate is an initial one, and could change in the future. Author information: (1)Research Center for the Early Universe, University of Tokyo, Tokyo 113-0033, Japan. Title: The Saas Fee Lectures on Strong Gravitational Lensing. On the other hand, lensing in strong gravitational field is a powerful tool to test the nature of compact object. Galaxy cluster Abell 383 is a gravitational lens.
MNRAS, submitted for publication; arXiv: 1607.00382. If an object is massive enough, its strong gravitational pull will bend light as it passes by. Through a statistical analysis, they determined that strong gravitational lensing is the most likely explanation. The effect is analogous to that produced by a lens. If an object is massive enough, its strong gravitational pull will bend light as it passes by. Strong gravitational lensing can actually result in such strongly bent light that multiple images of the light-emitting galaxy are formed. The light from the object gets bent round the massive body in between. Spectroscopic survey and galaxy-group identification of the strong gravitational lens system HE0435-1223.
One of the most remarkable predictions of Einstein’s theory of general relativity is that gravity bends light. 436 Citations; 28 Mentions; 7k Downloads; Part of the Saas-Fee Advanced Courses book series (SAASFEE, volume 33) Log in to check access.
